We are here to stay
Again? Another one? Sometimes I wonder why the A1NLF and its supporters bother. They have next to no support from anyone else and they achieve nothing other than stirring up unnecessary trouble.
Now in the latest comment by the leader of the Holy Salanian Empire, Emperor Brizendine, he accuses me of making a mountain out of a molehill, not informing him of a warning against his micronation that A1 would no longer recognise the Empire and “brutally oppressing its [A1's] minorities”.
Firstly, in relation to this whole affair, I would like to point out that anyone from outside A1 who has anything to do with the A1 National Liberation Front is violating A1′s sovereignty and right to deal with its internal affairs. For the benefit of those who require clarification on this issue, I provide the following definition of ‘sovereignty’:
“The enabling concept of international relations whereby states not only assert supreme authority within a distinct territorial entity but also assert membership of the international community. The doctrine of sovereignty implies a double claim: autonomy in foreign policy and exclusive competence in internal affairs. Internal sovereignty thus refers to a supreme decision-making and enforcement authority with regards to a particular territory and population.” (The Penguin Dictionary of International Relations)Collaborating with and actively supporting a group that is classified as illegal and a terrorist organisation by any government, let alone the A1 Government, is a violation of sovereignty and a direct threat to national security. This is made even worse when nations actually recognise them as the ‘legitimate’ government of A1, without any pretence or reasons whatsoever.
Which brings me to my next point, which is our right to govern and democratic processes. If A1 truly did “brutally oppress” its “minorities” as the Emperor so quaintly put it, then:
- We wouldn’t have allowed their political party to participate in last month’s elections
- We wouldn’t even have free, fair and frequent elections
- We wouldn’t have a fully independent judicial system
- We would’ve censored the A1NS to suppress any comments made by the organisation
Might I just emphasise that none of the above have ever occurred or ever will occur while I’m around as Chairman, and that we are amongst the most democratic nations in MicroWiki. Might I also implore anyone who wishes to criticise our system to please do so in a civilised and coherent manner, with statements and claims backed up with accurate evidence, rather than expounding generalised and incorrect statements, like we are “oppressive” and undemocratic.
Also, the derecognition of the Holy Salanian Empire was hardly unexpected for a number of reasons.
Firstly, it is very naive to expect that a government will recognise another’s authority, when that government has ceased to recognise the other’s sovereignty. In other words, how could one expect that A1 would continue to recognise the jurisdiction of the Salanian Government when that government doesn’t recognise that of A1′s?
Secondly, the warning was given in the email sent before I gave my comments to the A1NS. I said it quite clearly, and I quote from the email I sent at 9:53am this morning:
“Finally, in response to this regrettable event, I must inform you that A1 no longer recognises the Holy Salanian Empire, and will be encouraging other micronations to do the same, as well as to any other supporters and/or recognisers of the so-called ‘A1 Government-in-Exile’.”
For my last act, I would like to point out that I categorically refuse to surrender all the hard work and effort that I and the good people of A1 have put in to this micronation over the past three years. We have built up A1 from a classroom joke into one of the most powerful and influential micronations in the MicroWiki, and we are not about to just hand this over to an organisation which has no popular support from the people (the National Party only received 14% of the vote at the last election) and sees fit to commit acts of treason and vandalism against A1 and its people. We have worked hard for A1, and unless the people see otherwise and we are fairly voted out of our current position, we are here to stay.
Lastly, I would like to thank all micronations who have given A1 support and refuse to recognise the ‘A1 Government-in-Exile’ as the legitimate government of A1, as they have absolutely no mandate to rule.
Please don’t insult our intelligence and waste our time – end this charade now.

“Please don’t insult our intelligence and waste our time – end this charade now.”
The same to you.
The main flaw in previous comment is quite simple to spot and point out. This being the demanding of A1 to “end this charade now”. How is this so? That lies in the question of: What charade?
Last time I checked (about five seconds ago) “MGPR of A1″, “is a” and “charade” did not belong in the same paragraph. There has been no “charade” on the part of A1 and I am highly annoyed of such an acusation without proper evidence (the current evidence shows no signs of such).
So I ask you now: either leave A1 be and stop attempting to assist in their downfall and endure the rage of an angered community, or give convincing and proper evidence to support such speech. Although, I can assure you that you will not find any as there is no evidence to be found to support this. Why? Because quite simply: the idea is a lie.
Just out of interest, what “warning” did you expect to receive…? If you unrecognised the government of A1, you should expect that they’ll unrecognise you.
Yes, that was expected. But, the fact that they have instilled anger in the micronational community infuriates me. I respect Mr. Fish’s right to an opinion, but why must he “encourage others to do the same [derecognize the Empire]“? Possible explanation for this behavior? Guilt.
As for the PRSR, the charade would be this whole affair. Again, why can’t A1 just derecognize us, make their statement, and be done with it? There is no need to contact others to “gang up” on the Empire.
I blatantly disregard these accusations of lying.
Not only are you short sightend but if you see that your supporting terrorists? in politics the majoritity rules, thats just how things work, you are interfereing with some businness that arent any of your concerns, also you defy a mighty Left power something that isnt realy clever because you directly race into the offence and dont ask for any explaination, yes the A1NLF have the right to participate, but they commit threason and persform a coup the etate, the lowest thing to do.
Sir, slap your head against a wall and wake up or else you will be like Starland.
More rudeness. I still DO NOT recognize the A1NLF as a terrorist organization. Also, I am not “interfering” with this. The A1NLF asked me to support them, and I agreed, partly because they aren’t nearly the bunch of jerks that are arrayed here.
I take all of this as a personal affront to a Minister of Atlantis, and the Republic itself.
I also don’t appreciate the comment about Starland, who isn’t even a topic of discussion.
