LOST: The Time of Times
(I promise there will be no major spoilers within this article, so if you’re planning to watch the show in the future, don’t worry! You’re safe.)
“Nothing I can say here will compare to the thoughts, feelings, and rush of emotions I’m sure everyone is going through right now. For us the ride has finally ended. The lap bar has come up. There’s nothing left to do now but stagger away from LOST’s roller coaster, move forward, and try to burn the amazing image of this six-year ride into our hearts and minds forever.”

‘Moving forward’, for me, is to once again drown myself into the House fandom.
The last 15 hours or so has been really emotional for everyone in Lichthalzen and me. We still can’t believe the fact that LOST is coming to an end after a brilliant, mind-blowing six-year run. I have to admit that, to a certain extent, I’m glad that the series is coming to an end; that way, we can finally understand what’s been happening over the last six years, and the cause and effect of some of the events that have happened to the characters.
Some of the Lichthalzenites took some time off and gathered in a secluded little place together to watch the finale last night, and I’m ever so grateful that I’m not surrounded by twenty-six cheering, yelling (as we always do) and crying Lichthalzenites whilst watching the finale. Yes, I did cry during the finale.
The series finale was perfect – bittersweet, touching, funny and crazy at the same time. I’m surprised that for a show this complicated (come on, LOST is complicated.), the ending for it is just so simple and yet so profound. I know that there are some fans out there that are disappointed; they still wanted some explanations on what’s going on and wanted more. In my personal opinion, they should know that this would happen – and that no single ending would satisfy everyone. If you’re one of the disappointed fans, I’m sorry. I wish LOST has been a joyous ride for you and not a complete waste of your time.
I love how LOST ends with a definite ending, yet still open for speculation and interpretation.
Looking back, it’s been an awesome ride.
I remember watching the very first episode of LOST two weeks after my birthday. I just turned twelve and mum just installed this satellite-dish-type-thing so that we can watch TV channels from around the world. I hardly spoke English during that time, but somehow I managed to get the storyline. I got hooked on the series almost instantly, and I remember always moving my chair in front of the TV, finding a comfortable spot, at 9 pm on a Thursday and waiting for the show to come on. I turned off my phone and would bring a pillow with me to hug during the duration of the show.
Mum and dad’s reaction was the same: “Kids and their TV shows these days.”
I remember crying my eyes out when some of the characters died, yelling like a baboon when the characters fight, shivering like crazy when creepy scenes started to appear, and melting uncontrollably when some of the characters fall in love and kiss one another say how much they love one another. I have to say that I was pretty much spent by the end of Season 3.
I missed almost the entire episode of Season 4 (because that was when I started my full first year in Australia), thus forcing myself to purchase the DVD set later on in the year (I then sent the DVD cover to be autographed by Michael Emerson).
There are a lot of things that I love from LOST besides the storyline. A lot of things – from the crazy wigs they sometimes use to the music scores, from the great actors and actresses to the line spoken by them, from the mysteries to the conclusions, and from the costumes to the make-ups. LOST has generated a lot of fans worldwide (apparently 20.5 MILLION people watched at least 6 minutes of the finale. Wow. Insane.), and I’m proud to say that I know quite a lot of fans worldwide and I’m glad that we have become very close friends at this stage. LOST, in a way. brings people together, and that’s the icing to the cupcake.
So I would like to conclude this ranty article by saying thanks to Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse (the writers of LOST), the cast and crew, and to Michael Giacchino (the composer of the awesome LOST scores). Thanks for all LOST fans worldwide – thanks for your speculations, support and friendship over the last six years. Thank you so much. Thanks for making LOST such an amazing TV show, and I’m sure every single one of us will always remember our journey over the last six years.
We’ll always be LOST.
