A1 National Emergency Alert System launched

Federal Minister for Public and Government Services, Sir. Philip Fish, has announced the launching of A1′s National Emergency Alert System.

The newly launched system sends emails to all A1 citizens who have forum or A1 email accounts whenever an emergency strikes.

The email contains vital information, including the locations affected, advice on what to do and further contact information.

In the announcement on the A1 National Forum, Sir. Philip said that the new system was designed to be used “…in the event of an emergency”.

He also added later that the system was an important step forward in the development of a national disaster plan.

“While we have responded well to disasters in the past, such as the Mt. Merapi eruption last year, we have yet to formulate a national plan to respond to emergencies”, he said.

“This new alert system is an important step forward in achieving this, which will benefit all of A1′s citizens”.

Citizens were sent a test message yesterday to demonstrate the usage of the system.
