Pontus Navy conducts exercises

HEAS Cooriengah, the task group's flagship.

The Pontus Navy has engaged in large scale naval operations of London as part of routine training this week preparing its naval crews and marines for conducting the highly intense amphibious assault style of combat operations which, Chief of Naval Materials, Commodore Corby states is vital to the operating capacity of the force.

Training exercises like this are designed to give all involved the greatest sense of realism available so that should a situation emerge when they are needed then they will be able to pull it off perfectly.

Involved in the exercises was the helicopter carrier HEAS Cooriengah which serves as task group flagship alongside fellow amphibious assault vessels HEAS Ernest, HEAS Georgetown, HEAS London and HEAS Port Pulau. Augmenting these was the Gun Destroyer HEAS Acacia which practiced its marksmanship in providing cover for the operations along with several minor escort vessels and auxiliaries.

In the actual assault over four hundred marines were put ashore along with several hundred army soldiers, armoured vehicles and command installations which were assembled just above the beach as would be done in real operations.

The fleet will continue to conduct exercises until next week when units will begin returning to their stations, the primary amphibious vessels will be on duty as the fast reaction task group for the next few months before being relieved by the fleets other assets.
