2011 Fnords announced

 

The prestigious 2011 Fnord Awards have been announced by its judges, with the A1 News Service being awarded the Iain Jacobson Award for Journalism.

The A1 News Service was given the award for being “well-designed, informative, and regularly-updated” according to judge, Scott Alexander.

“The A1 News Service has not only kept us updated about events in A1, but been many people’s source of up-to-date information on the entire Microwiki sector (not to mention the Australian weather).”

Other awards bestowed include the Joshua Coales Award for Best New Idea, which went to Scott Alexander for the ‘Archipelago’ project, the Bill Dusch Award for Cultural Development, which went to Nick Turner for Normark and the Odlum Award for Overall Achievement went to Harvey Steffke for his varied work over the years.

Minister for Public & Government Services, Sir. Philip Fish, who is responsible for the A1NS, said that he was “delighted” by the award.

“We’ve been working hard for over three years now and this is the first award that we have received”, he said.

“I would like to thank Diego el-Hummingbird, who was Editor for much of the A1NS’s history, as well as the other editors and staff members who have made the A1NS into the success that it is today”.
