Milo Holland resigns as OAM Secretary-General

In the latest political turmoil to hit the OAM, Milo Holland has resigned his position as Secretary-General pending the withdrawal of his micronation, Rathunis, from the Organisation.

In a statement posted on the OAM Forum, he said that Rathunis would be concentrating more on “home affairs” and less on diplomacy and foreign affaris.

“As a result of this policy, it has been decided that the Principality of Rathunis is to resign its membership of the Organisation of Active Micronations”.

The change comes just days after polls closed at a specially held election to elect a Vice Secretary-General, which King Anthony of Zealandia won by just a few votes, and changes were made to the administrative structure of the OAM in the conference held last month.

Sir. Philip Fish, founder of the OAM and A1′s current representative to the Organisation, said that the resignation and withdrawal was a “shock”.

“I never expected that this would happen”, he said.

“Milo has been a great Secretary-General and his loss will be felt quite a lot in the OAM. What we’ve been in need of lately is stable and competent leadership, and he delivered that. Now that he’s gone, the next few weeks will be tricky and interesting”.

Sir. Philip ruled out running for the position.

King Anthony of Zealandia, as Vice Secretary-General, will hold the position of Acting Secretary-General until the scheduled January 2012 elections.
