September 2011 OAM elections open

The polls have opened in the seventh elections at the Organisation of Active Micronations, with the largest number of voters ever registered.

The election is also unique in that none of the present Secretariat are running for re-election, including Secretary-General and founder of the OAM, Sir. Philip Fish.

Over 80 member nations are registered to vote, and although voting is not compulsory, it is highly encourage for all member nations to exercise their single vote each.

The Judges for the newly established IMCL (Intermicronational Court of Law) are being elected for the first time, following the court’s establishment in July.

Current Secretary-General and First Secretary of A1, Sir. Philip Fish, said that he was not seeking re-election due to a variety of factors.

“I definitely feel that I have served more than my fair share of time as Secretary-General, and it will be great to have someone fresh and new at the helm to guide the Organisation into the future”.

The election will also use the Alternative Voting system in an attempt to make election results more transparent and easier to read.
