Anthrax scare reaches Lichthalzen

The Moewardi hospital in Surakarta, Central Java, near Lichthalzen, is treating five patients with symptoms of Anthrax.

It is understood that there has been an anthrax outbreak in the area, mainly affecting livestock.

The hospital has sent samples of the patients’ tests to a biomedical laboratory at the Sebelas Maret University’s Faculty of Medicine in Surakarta.

All five patients come from a village close by to Surakarta, and are suffering from skin anthrax, which is not so severe, according to a hospital spokesman.

No Lichthalzen citizens have yet been affected, by Prime Minister Mars McTavish urged all Lichthalzenites not to eat any uncooked meat.

Symptoms of anthrax include shortness of breath, black ulcers or bruises, chest pain, fever, vomiting and shock.
